March 13

fish taco salsa

tortilla soup

This was maybe the first challenging dish I made.

It was better than the last time I made it. I don't think the ingredients were better, but I wonder if i was more willing to use high heat, more willing to let things reduce, and used more salt. I guess I've improved?

On the other, a lot of work for not a lot of soup (2 nights!) but we'll have chicken for days.

March 19

Scrambled Eggs (Breakfast)

I've cooked this 54 times before

Chicken with Artichokes (Dinner)

Didn't turn out great - the chicken had a rubbery texture. Maybe not as cooked as I like it?

Nice vegetarian main. I served it with naan (from Whole Foods), cucumber and tomato tossed with some olive oil and salt, and hummus. I misread the spicy tahini in the recipe as tzatziki (which I don't care for) so I skipped it, but the spicy tahini sounds good. It was good with hummus too.

Zov's Hummus

March 23

Sauteed Mushrooms

I crisped bacon in the pan first, then took that out (and discarded some of the fat) and sauteed the mushrooms in bacon grease. I thought it'd be amazing and decadent, but it was actually just kind of OK. Olive oil and garlic makes for better mushrooms.

This was easy, and yielded 3 days of meals. I used 2lbs (or even a bit more) of chicken thighs and they cooked up fine, and some nice thick "steakhouse bacon" from Nature's Ranch.
